Community Workers

What is the Service?

Our Community Workers will assist people to access support and services, that can help them maintain their independence in their own home. They will provide information on a broad range of services, allowing the client to make a choice. They will also assist with the resolution of any current difficulties that the client is experiencing, and will advocate on their behalf.

Who can receive this service?

Any person living in the Lane Cove Municipality who requires assistance. Our priority is:
  • frail older people
  • people with a disability
  • carers (ie. a person who takes care of someone who is unable to look after him or herself)
  • disadvantaged people
  • people from culturally and linguistically different background, (or from a non-English speaking background).

When is it available?

The Community Workers, are based in the Lane Cove Community Aid Service office at 164 Longueville Road, and are available Monday to Thursday from 9am till 4pm.

How does it operate?

Anyone can contact the Community Workers by phone or visiting the office. They will meet with you and listen to your needs. They will then suggest a plan or alternative solutions. If you choose, they will make the referrals on your behalf.

Do I have to pay for this Service?

No, there is no charge to access the Community Workers. However, if you decide to accept any of the supports or services they suggest, there may be costs associated with these other services.
