Lower North Shore Easy Care Gardening Service

What is the Service?

This service assists frail older people, people with disabilities, and their carers to better manage their own gardens through conversion to safe, low maintenance gardens. This enables them to continue living safely in their own homes for as long as possible.

Who can receive this service?

Frail older people, people with disabilities and their carers who live in their own homes in the LGAs of Lane Cove, Mosman, North Sydney and Willoughby.

When is it available?

Weather permitting, the volunteer team working with the Coordinator, garden throughout the year on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings for approximately four hours.Clients may be placed on a waiting list if demand is high.

How does it operate?

The Coordinator will visit the client's home to assess eligibility to receive the service, and to discuss and agree what work is required in the garden. The service is fully insured and provides all tools to volunteers who garden under the supervision of the Coordinator, usually within three weeks of the initial assessment visit.

Do I have to pay to receive this service?

there is a small charge for this service of approximately $60.00 etc

There is the opportunity for negotiation of the fees if financial difficulties are being experienced.

The service may be requested by potential clients contacting the Gardening Coordinator at Lane Cove Community Aid Service on 9427 6425, or by referral from other services or agencies.
