What is the service?

It is a weekly, telephone service, run in partnership with Coles Supermarket, Lane Cove, offering home delivery of shopping orders.

Who is eligible for this Service?

  • Frail older people
  • Younger people with disabilities
  • Carers
  • Anyone unable to manage their shopping on a short term basis eg. due to an accident or ill-health

Clients must also:

  • Live in the Lane Cove local government area
  • Find it difficult to leave the home or need help to manage shopping

Is there a cost?

Coles charges a standard delivery fee for this Service, in addition to the cost of the groceries.

How often is it available?

The Service is available on a weekly basis, although some people use it only when needed, eg. when their Carer is away. Orders are phoned in on a Friday and delivered the following Tuesday.

How to register/refer for this Service?

To register, simply phone us on 9427 6425. Ask to speak to the Shopping Service Coordinator, who will explain the Service in full and answer any questions.
Anyone can refer, either themselves or on behalf of someone else, to register for this Service.

How does it operate?

Clients phone Lane Cove Community Aid on 9427 6425 on Friday mornings, between 9.15am and 11.45am, and ask to speak to a shopping Volunteer. The Volunteer takes down the details and delivers the orders to Coles Supermarket.

On the following Tuesday, a Coles staff member packs the order and phones the Client to advise exact cost of groceries plus approximate time of delivery.

On Tuesday afternoons, the order is delivered to the home. Clients need to be at home to receive the delivery.

Any item, including cold or fresh food, except alcohol and cigarettes, can be delivered.
