Community Support Transport

What is the Service?

This service assists older people and people with disabilities to attend medical, health related, and other necessary appointments.

Who can receive this service?

It is especially for those people who live in the Lane Cove local government area are unable to access other forms of transport and who do not have relatives or friends who can help with transport.

When is it available?

The service is available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). The earliest pick up is 8.00 am and the last pick up is 3.30 pm. (A passenger booking a return trip who is not ready to be picked up by 3.30 pm must be able to make their own way home without assistance from the service).

How does it operate?

Individual Transport is provided by either volunteer drivers with Lane Cove Community Aid Service, who use their own vehicles; or paid drivers from Lower North Shore Community Transport Inc.

The driver picks up the passenger at their home, drives them to their appointment and either waits, or returns later to drive them home when their appointment has finished.

Do I have to pay to receive this service?

The following are the client contributions for each transport. (There is the opportunity for these to be negotiated if financial difficulties are being experienced).

How can I request this service?

You can request transport by phoning our office on 9427 6425 with your appointment details.

We will need to know your appointment time; where you need to go, including the address and phone number; and how long you expect the appointment to take if you want a driver to bring you home again.

We will also need to know how the driver can assist you from your home into the car; if you use a wheelchair or frame; and if someone will be accompanying you.
